Violence Is Peace
By: Larry Gordon
The idea of climate change in our countries and cities is gone. In its place you’re required to now call for the violent overthrow of the State of Israel and kowtow to their requirement to hate Jews or at the very least express your disdain for Jews in some fashion.
How did we get to this point? It arguably began in ancient Biblical times that we read about in the Torah for the first time last week. Balak, whose name was so imposing that it was deemed worthy of having an entire parashah named after him, hired the infamous but insightful prophet Bilaam. And what is Bilaam’s job? To somehow derail and sidetrack the Jewish people from completing their wanderings and settling in their promised Land of Israel.
That is the matter of “from the river to the sea” combined with “Free Palestine” all rolled into one.
Today, thousands of years later, with the Jews deeply entrenched in the Land of Israel, a nation with its own flag and seat in the General Assembly of the United Nations, the same job that Bilaam attempted to do is still wide open and available. That is, to figure out either through words or deeds, some way to extricate the Jewish people from their homeland. The job seems endless and is even gathering momentum.
But as we know, despite his best efforts and with an articulate donkey and all, Bilaam failed in his job and eventually packed up and went home despite his lucrative contract promising significant remuneration. And all he had to do was cast curses at the Jewish people to enable Balak to destroy them or at least divert them from entering that tiny sliver of land still known today as the Land of Israel.
Balak could not have gotten it done without the assistance of legacy media outlets like CNN and The New York Times, but today’s Bilaams seem to be doing better with the hostility and media assistance from those who are funding them and urging them to do all they can to push the Jewish people into an even smaller portion of the land, if not out of it entirely.
Yet they keep failing. Perhaps the project can be called “Anatomy of a Gargantuan Failure.” The enemies of Israel push hard, but they seem to be doing so from a slippery slope. Throughout history, Jews have been through this process of being pushed out of their Promised Land since time immemorial, but somehow Hashem keeps bringing them back.
The flip side of all that talk and all that process reverts back to things like resilience, perseverance, and determination time and time again. But that reality has never convinced the Bilaams, Balaks, Sinwars, and Arafats of the world to believe that they have been roundly defeated and should just give up.
Like the terrorists who control Iran today, all we hear about is talk of peace that is consistently interlaced with violence and terror. I think it was Secretary of State Marco Rubio who recently said that a ceasefire with Iran or Hezbollah just means less shooting and a reduction in violence. In other words, there is no ceasing in the word “ceasefire.”
The Middle East is making progress toward peace, but at such a slow rate that after one step forward, they seem to always fall two steps behind.
So, this “Free Palestine” and “from the river to the sea” gibberish falls under the category of “nothing new under the sun.” In other words, the Iranians say peace but they really mean more war. They agree to a ceasefire in the Strait of Hormuz, but no sooner do they lay down their arms than they start firing exploding drones and missiles with the intent of damaging if not destroying cargo tankers. It’s just a matter of saying one thing and meaning something else. As President Trump quipped, “I’d say in that part of the world a ceasefire is when you’re shooting in a more moderate manner.”
Iran and for that matter many Muslim countries feel that committing to one policy but in fact doing the opposite comes under the category of “all is fair in war.”
Israel has been dealing with this type of attitude from the neighboring enemy Arab countries since its creation in 1948. The enemy commits to one type of treaty or agreement and then indulges in the exact opposite behavior. This is what the Arab world considers good, fair, and right.
In fact, the Koran dictates that getting an adversary of Islam to convert may be done so at all costs. If it requires all types of lies and deceptions then that would be appropriate and even encouraged to do so.
Case in point is the present 60-day pause in hostilities and the 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a ceasefire and begin negotiations toward ending the conflict between the U.S. and Iran. Both sides continuously reiterate that their ceasefire is holding despite the nightly exchange of fire between the two sides. Earlier this week during another attempt at a ceasefire, the Iranian military fired rockets at both Kuwait and Bahrain. Up to this point, Bahrain had not at all been involved in the current conflict, that is, until the other day.
It’s remarkable how many high-powered missiles Iran still possesses even though the U.S. insists their army, navy, and air force have been destroyed. For a country whose offensive capabilities have reportedly been devastated, they still have some formidable firepower.
So, let’s be clear. To Iran, being violent is a dimension of their peaceful nature. When they commit wholesale murder even amongst their native population, things seem to settle down and become peaceful once again.
As the weeks drift by, it becomes additionally clear that the Iranian objective is to slow things down until the U.S. reaches the midterm elections, when the ruthless and heartless Democrats will stoop to whatever means necessary to retake a majority in the House of Representatives, their only hope of gaining some leverage to counteract Trump’s policies. When the war with Iran started, the Democrats spoke out against it. Now that the U.S. is attempting to tone down the conflict, limit the exchange of fire, and attempt to bring all sides to the peace table, suddenly the Democrats are against it.
The good news is that the Democratic Party in the U.S. is a mess. Hopefully it will stay that way. For now, it seems that is the best we can hope for as we move closer to the midterms.
