Why New Yorkers Needs Bruce Blakeman Now
By Gabriel Boxer
We have never faced a more clear and present danger to the future of our state than we do right now. The rise of Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani as Mayor of New York City represents more than a single political victory. It is a warning sign. His campaign now serves as a blueprint for activists who openly reject the foundations of our free market capitalistic society, threatening to replace it with Socialism in other cities and counties across New York and the United States, which is a clear and present danger.
Mamdani is the product of an elite Progressive ecosystem that has grown increasingly hostile to common sense, public safety, and American values. He was shaped by institutions like Columbia University, which tolerated illegal encampments that intimidated students and normalized chaos, and guided by a carefully manufactured social media operation that prioritizes image over substance. The result was a shallow, performative campaign that nonetheless won, and that should alarm every New Yorker who cares about the direction of our state and country.
At the same time, New York is facing a severe financial crisis. A multi-billion-dollar structural budget gap shows no sign of closing, and the current administration’s proposals only deepen the problem. Rising costs for housing, food, energy, and childcare are crushing low- and middle-income families both downstate and upstate. Many families are struggling simply to stay afloat, let alone plan for their children’s future.
Public safety has also been severely undermined. At a time when we need stronger policing and safer streets, radical voices continue to push their “defund the police” rhetoric that demoralizes law enforcement and emboldens criminals. Failed open border and sanctuary city policies have compounded the problem, contributing to a surge in crime and disorder. The idea that replacing the police with social workers during emergencies is not only detached from reality; it is dangerous and will cost lives.
Cashless bail, permissive district attorneys, and activist judges have further empowered repeat offenders while law-abiding citizens pay the price. Endless talk of police reform that weakens law enforcement is not the answer. We must restore respect for law and order. Being tough on crime is not an extreme position; it is essential if we want peace, stability, and a future where our children can live freely and safely.
Housing is another crisis point. New York has become unaffordable for the next generation. Skyrocketing home prices, crushing property taxes, and a lack of serious reform are driving families out of state. Without a clear vision to fix this, the exodus will only accelerate.
This is why Nassau County matters. In just four years, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman has shown what real leadership looks like. He has been tough on crime and unapologetically supportive of law enforcement, keeping crime at historic lows. Nassau has seen an influx of families seeking a better quality of life, more job opportunities, and safer communities. Infrastructure has improved, cultural and recreational opportunities have expanded, taxes have remained low, and the budget has stayed balanced. That is not an accident. It is the result of competent, principled leadership.
After years of failed Democratic policies, it’s time for New York to change course. We need a governor who can restore public safety, bring fiscal discipline back to Albany, and work across the aisle to rebuild confidence in our state. For these reasons and many more, I’m calling on New Yorkers to fully support Bruce Blakeman for Governor. New York needs his leadership now more than ever. n
